Ready for a fresh start?

Calgary is a wonderful city with lots of opportunities. It has lots to offer if you know where to look. This section will give information to help you to settle quickly in Calgary.

Government tab will guide you how to get your social insurance number (SIN), health card and supplementary insurance.

Accomodation tab is a great resource about how to find a place to live. Before I moved to Calgary I thought a lot about living by myself or renting a room. I decided to rent a room and live with a family. I was new to the city and had no business or social network. I am glad with my choice since whenever I needed local information they were always there to offer guidance.

You are new to the city and don't have a car yet. Transportation tab offers information about the public transit. It will also give you a rough idea about the cost of taxi from airport.

Employment tab is the one that you will need the most. There are 30 links to the recruitment websites, links to the labor market information and Human Resources & Social Development Canada (HRDC). HRDC offers free services to new immigrants and guide them in their job search.
